Kids Summer Camp 2021

Marsh Creek Summer Camp offers a one-of-a-kind camp experience in Chester County.  The summer camp teaches kids how to sail, standup paddleboard, and kayak.  All activities are hands on and FUN! The campers will learn basic sailing techniques and rigging for both sail boats and windsurfers. They will also learn to tack and jibe while focusing on the importance of water safety. The campers also enjoy exploring Marsh Creek Lake on  kayaks and standup paddleboards.

Age Range: 6 to 16

Each of our 4 groups are split based on age. This allows us to tailor each lesson to the camper’s age group.

Time: 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Please arrive by 9:45 a.m., as we leave the beach at 10 a.m. sharp.

Here are some highlights of the changes we have made.

  • We currently have reduced our capacity to approximately 40% of usual. We hope to add capacity in the future if guidelines permit.
  • All campers must be pre-registered before the session starts. We will not be able to accept any walk-up registrations this summer.
  • We will have a 1:2 counselor to camper ratio to allow for social distancing.
  • Campers will have the same counselor for the entire session.
  • Lunches will be picnic style (no longer on the deck) and with their group members only.
  • Counselors and campers will be required to wear face coverings during camp.
  • Our staff is sanitizing all equipment before and after each use.

Check in procedure

This Friday we will be sending you an email to confirm final balances. If you have a balance due we ask you to call us with a credit card or bring a check on the first day of camp. We will also confirm if you have a signed release form. If you do not have a signed release please download it from the website and it can be dropped off on the first day of camp. If you are bringing a release or check on the first day of camp please put them in an envelope with the camper’s name printed on the front.

The email will also have your child’s group information and the name of their counselor. This year there will be no check in at the counter, instead you will see your child’s group number and they should proceed directly to their group with any lunches, backpacks, change of clothes, towels etc. Remember to leave the phones and other valuables at home whenever possible. We will have coolers for lunches and a container for personal items. Your child will meet at this same spot each day. We will be doing temperature checks of the counselors when they arrive in the morning and we ask that if your child is not feeling well or has a temperature above 100.4 that you keep them at home and give us a phone call to let us know that they are not feeling well. At this time, we are not doing temperature checks for campers but that is subject to change if guidance changes.

We will include in the email the time to drop off and pickup your children each day. The time may vary slightly from one group to the other so if there is a car-pooling conflict please let us know. Also, please drop off your children as close to their scheduled time as we are trying to minimize the number of people on the shoreline at one time.

Groups

This year our groups will have 2 counselors and 4 campers. The groups will be the same for all of the days in the session. Groups will be randomly assigned based on ages and as in years past we will do our best to accommodate any grouping requests. If you would like to request a group of friends or siblings for camp you must consider the following:

  • The groups must be a maximum of 4 campers. During some activities such as sailing the group will be split to be 2 campers and 1 counselor.
  • The groups must be organized and agreed upon ahead of time by the parents. Please email us the group request by the Friday preceding camp no later than 10am.
  • We will do our very best to accommodate all grouping requests so long as we can still maintain our counselor to camper ratios.

Daily Activities

This year we will offer many of the same fun activities that the campers have taken part in during past camp seasons. We will be taking the kids out in kayaks and paddleboards (singles or doubles depending on ages and wind conditions). We of course will be out sailing when conditions permit but we will only have 2 campers and 1 counselor per sailboat. We may also mix in some land-based activities to change things up a bit.

Lunch

Campers will take a 30 minute lunch break in the middle of the day, when they can also use the bathroom and definitely wash their hands. Lunch this year will be picnic style in one of the grassy areas. Campers should bring a towel to sit on for lunch. Campers can either pack a lunch or can purchase some food items from the snack bar. After lunch we will wash our hands once again and head back out on the water.

Pick up (End of Day)

Campers will arrive back in their groups and gather their belongings. We ask that you sign your child out from camp with their counselors. We would appreciate it if parents wear a mask during sign outs and when in the rental area. The exact pickup time slot will be in the email released this Friday. Please let us know if there are any carpool conflicts.

Thank you for your patience while we adapt to this new guidelines and restrictions. We are very happy to be able to offer camp this year and are excited that your camper will be hanging out at the lake with us this summer!

Camper Information

What to Wear

Bathing suits are a must! The campers can either wear just a bathing suit or wear a t-shirt/rashgaurd and shorts over it. Sunscreen is critical.

Lunch

We will break for lunch every day around 11:30 a.m. The lunch times are broken up by groups. You can pack a bagged lunch for your child, and we can keep it refrigerated if needed. We also have a snack bar that has hot dogs, chicken nuggets and tenders, pizza, soft pretzels, ice cream, water ice and cold drinks. Make sure your child has plenty of water!

First Day Procedure

Please arrive the between 9:30 a.m.-9:45 a.m. We will show you where your child can keep their bag, settle up financial obligations, collect release forms, fit your child for a life jacket and get them into groups.

Weather Questions/Camp Cancellations

We watch the radar very carefully both before and during camp. If a storm pops up during camp, we get the kids off the water and get them inside. If it is just light rain, we will still have camp. In the unlikely event that we would cancel camp, we will send an email before 8:30 a.m. to notify you of the cancellation. At that point, we will announce make-up day options.

Mailing Information

Please make checks payable to C.B. Enterprises. Summer camp registrations and deposits should be mailed to P.O. Box 951, Exton, PA 19341. Once we are open for the season in late April, registrations and deposits can be dropped off at the boat rental.
